Michelle Colbert
Vice President, Strategic Initiatives

Michelle Colbert has in excess of 13 years of experience in unclaimed property administration.  She recently transitioned from running the Clearinghouse’s State Services unit to a role as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, where she focuses on identifying the current and longer-term needs of state unclaimed property programs, and coordinates the development of solutions that meet those needs in the areas of securities custody, claims processing, and recordkeeping systems. To that end, Michelle is leading project teams working on systems development, imaging, holder report intake, and other products for state programs.

Michelle began her career in the unclaimed securities division of State Street Bank in 1990.  At State Street, Michelle worked in both the claims processing and unclaimed securities sections of the business, learning both from the ground up.  She then served for a time as manager of each section individually before assuming responsibility for both.  Michelle became Vice President of State Services within the newly reorganized ACS Unclaimed Property Clearinghouse at the end of 1998.

In addition to her responsibilities in State Services, Michelle played and integral part of developing SmartLink™, a system designed for large corporate clients to perform records management and reporting of unclaimed property.  Michelle continues to manage this service offering.

Michelle holds a masters degree in business management from Simmons College Graduate School of Management, the only graduate program in the country dedicated to the education of women in business.
